Our last walk of the 2020 Activating Citizen Science program was held in the northern section of Park 23 on the 14th of November. This was a fitting end to this series of walks, with the group surprised by the biodiversity park had to offer. The park itself is often overlooked by Adelaide's residents despite sitting adjacent to some of the busiest urban roads in Adelaide.
The group split into two, with one group disappearing while the second group only progressed a few meters before finding a eucalyptus sapling covered with invertebrates. We found a cluster of bugs (Hemiptera ©fossil1513,), ants, Vineyard Snail Cernuella virgata, wasps, and a few difficult to photograph butterflies.
After spending some time at a single tree, the group moved off to investigate the wetland and found a number of dragonflies, Damselflies, spiders, and bee flies. Being distracted by the wetland and some conversation, unfortunately, we only explored a small portion of the park. Our efforts increased the number of species recorded in the in-park 24 from 50 to an impressive 76 species and doubling the number of observations As a result, there is plenty to discover in any return to the park.

I would like to thank all who participated in our outings and discovering some of Adelaide's underappreciated parks, I hope you continue to engage with nature through Citizen Science. I have noticed that recently Pam has been uploading some amazing historic photos from her previous adventures. I encourage you to check out Pam's observations and to upload your own new and old observations.
